Raising Money for Missions

Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone had a relaxing and fun Labor Day.  (And it's now officially Autumn, btw, according to the LwYH calendar).

Today, I'm going to share something for a friend.  For the past few years, she has been going to India on regular missions trips, and next year, she is taking her 14-year-old daughter with her for the first time.  To help raise the funds they need to make this journey, they have made lovely little headbands, hair clips, and pins to sell.  If I had a shop, I would display and sell these to customers, but I have no shop.  I have this blog.  :)  They're absolutely adorable, aren't they?

 

 

 

The headbands and hair clips are $4.00, while the pins are $1.00 (or a donation).  My friend has agreed to take custom orders, and to ship to you if you are not local (although I do not know if she will be able to ship outside the U.S.)

Iron Chef Camper

Well, the weekend for Iron Chef Camper is almost here!  Only 7 1/2 more hours chained to my desk before I can break free and eat like a pig for three days.

I intend to share photographs of our awesome meals with you, but for now, how about a little guessing game?  Jayson and I did a lot of research, and came up with some pretty kick-butt recipes.  Here are some of the ingredients...can you guess what we're making??  (Remember, there are two meals, two side dishes, one appetizer, and one dessert.)  Guess big, because we researched big.

2. Bisquick
3. Cream cheese
4. Crab meat
5. Worcestershire sauce (<--- is that even close??)
6. Potatoes
7. Mayonnaise
8. Dill Relish
9. Ketchup
10. more onion
11. Vinegar
12. Hash browns
13. Eggs
14. Potatoes

Okay, that's enough.  I can't give too much away... I know at least one of my worthy opponents reads my blog faithfully.  ;)

Delightful Little Breakfast

I love summertime.  I love enjoying time with close friends, sitting out on the deck, eating delicious food... and if they can all be done at once?  Well, there's no better life than that.

A couple of weeks ago, my husband learned that one of his good friends was taking an overnight kayaking trip by himself, and decided to crash the party.  He showed up at his friend's campsite in the middle of the night.  lol   And, since his lovely wife (who happens to be one of my besties!) was forced to go out of her way to drop my husband off at home the next morning, I made a surprise breakfast for the four of us on the deck.  I felt it was the least I could do.  : )

And, of course, why would you serve breakfast when, with a tad more effort, you can serve breakfast with styyyyyyyyle?

Fruit, juice, fresh coffee, and that on the left is Christmas Morning Casserole. 

And, of course, our little Remi, happy to help with any messes.

Dirty Gourmet

Mini-post!

It's already Tuesday!! wait, Wednesday!!!  {It always takes me a little time to get back to normal after a holiday.  But I'd be cool with having to re-adjust myself every week or two.}

It's officially summer (according to the LwYH Calendar), so the camping and kayaking trips are abounding.  Last year, we played our first annual weekend of "Iron Chef Camper" (ICC) with some wonderful friends of ours.  ICC isn't quite like the show - instead, one family cooked one day, and the other cooked the next, both trying to out-do the other.  But truly, no one really loses at ICC... you spend the weekend fine dining while covered in bugspray and campfire smoke.  Sound divine??  Trust me, it is!

Anyways, my wonderful and worthy opponent beat me last year before breakfast was even over, so I've been doing actual homework (recipe research!) this year.  I stumbled across a site made for gatherings of my people... Dirty Gourmet!  If you are a camper, you must check it out... some of these recipes sound phenomenal!!  Please share if you do.
